TeklTalk vs SiteGPT: which AI chatbot should you use?
Both TeklTalk and SiteGPT build a chatbot trained on your own website content. They are not, however, aimed at the same buyer. SiteGPT sells customer-service automation to support teams — helpdesk integrations, human handoff, lead capture, an API. TeklTalk does one thing: answer questions about your site, with citations, for a few dollars a month.
The gap shows up first in price. SiteGPT's cheapest plan is $59/month, or $39/month if you pay for a year up front, and there is no free plan — just a 7-day trial you start from a paid tier. TeklTalk starts at $7/month and has a free plan that doesn't expire.
So the honest answer is a question about scope. If you need a support desk, SiteGPT is the more complete product and most of the table below goes their way. If you want a source-cited bot on your site without a support-tool budget, that's what we built.

Where TeklTalk wins
A free plan, not a seven-day trial
SiteGPT has no free tier — the trial runs seven days from a paid plan, so the bot stops when it ends. TeklTalk's free plan runs indefinitely on 100 content credits, 50 conversations/mo, needs no card, and is a fine permanent home for a small site.
An order of magnitude cheaper to start
SiteGPT's entry tier is $59/month, or $39/month if you commit to a year. TeklTalk's Basic plan is $7/mo, or $70/year ($5.83/mo). For a documentation site or a small business that wants questions answered, the cheaper plan is not a worse version of the same thing — it is the whole job.
The badge comes off without an add-on
Removing "Powered by SiteGPT" is a separate line item at $59/month on top of whatever plan you're on — on Starter, that roughly doubles the bill. On TeklTalk the badge is gone on every paid plan, starting at $7/month.
No message arithmetic
SiteGPT counts your question and the reply as two messages, and splits your quota between two models where the better one burns it about ten times faster — so a "10,000 message" plan is nearer 5,500 in practice. TeklTalk counts conversations. A visitor session is one, however long it runs.
Where SiteGPT wins
Far more places to train from
We read your website. SiteGPT also ingests file uploads, raw text, YouTube, GitHub, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box and Notion. If your knowledge lives in a wiki or a drive rather than on public pages, that difference is the whole decision.
It is a support desk, and we are not
Slack, Crisp, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Zoho SalesIQ, Google Chat and Messenger, plus one-button escalation from the bot to a human agent and back. We have none of this: our widget is a widget. If a support team is going to live in this tool, buy theirs.
Leads from the conversation itself
We have lead capture, but it works the other way round: you point your own contact form at our endpoint and read submissions in the dashboard. SiteGPT's bot asks for details mid-conversation and can hand the visitor to a human. It also covers 95+ languages and clusters conversations by topic. If you want the chatbot to be the funnel, theirs is.
A real API and automation surface
A documented REST API, a CLI, an MCP server, and webhooks on higher tiers. We have no public API at all, so anything you want to automate around us, you can't. If you plan to build on top of the chatbot, that rules us out today.
Compliance posture
SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, a HIPAA assessment with a BAA available on Enterprise, and role-based access. We publish none of these. If your procurement process asks for a security review, we will not clear it and SiteGPT will.
Bottom line
Choose TeklTalk if you want a source-cited chatbot answering questions about your site, with a bill you can predict and a free plan that doesn't expire — and you don't need a helpdesk, an API, or a compliance pack.
Choose SiteGPT if a support team will use this daily: helpdesk and chat integrations, human handoff, lead capture, many data sources, an API, and SOC 2. It costs a great deal more, and for that use case it earns it.
